Solanum tuberosum Group stenotomum Diversity Panel (STNDIP)

The Solanum tuberosum Group stenotomum Diversity Panel (STNDIP) was established from the Commonwealth Potato Collection at the Hutton. Solanum tuberosum Group stenotomum is a diploid landrace species of potato, cultivated in Latin America as a crop. Accessions in 25 families were selected for long day adaptation and the panel was genetically characterized using the 8k Illumina Infinium SNP array. The genetic structure of SNTDIP shows the origin of the panel highlighting the original accessions and their genetic diversity, as well as the loose family structure due to common maternal lineages.
STNDIP shows high levels of variation in tuber traits such as tuber shape, skin and flesh colour, secondary skin colour, texture and dormancy. We phenotype the clones and identify genomic regions using Genome-Wide Association Study (GWAS) underlining the traits.
